Beaches - only 10 minutes away

Sitges Beach next to marina at Aiguadolc, only 10 minutes away from the house.
Playa San Sebastian is by the old town of Sitges with a pedestrian zone full of bars, restaurants and terraces.
Sitges has 2 kilometres of golden sand beaches but there are also good beaches at Vilanova, Castelldefels & Barcelona.


La Boqueria market off the Ramblas in Barcelona open Mon-Sat 8:00am-20:30pm
Sitges food market next to the train station open Mon-Sat, and general market on Friday mornings in Plaza Catalunya.
Vilafranca street market on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 20 minutes from the villa.


Can Fabes, 2 Michelin stars restaurant in Sant Celoni. The dishes served here are works of art. For a very special dining experience.
Can Laury fish restaurant. One of the best in Sitges' marina Aigudolc. Nearby is a great pizzeria for large family groups.
Al Fresco, The Picnic, Lizarran are some of the great places to eat and for tapas in Sitges

Picasso Museum in the medieval part of Barcelona features paintings from his early life in Spain.
Juan Miro Museum
Gaudi's Parque Guell, Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, la Pedrera are all sights not to be missed.

Barcelona Fashion

Barcelona is home to some of the best international designers like Custo for clothes, Muxart for shoes, Touse for jewellery and Vincon for furnishings.
For clothes shopping in Barcelona - Paseo de Gracia and Diagonal are most upmarket, Barri Gotic is the most mainstream, while El Born is the most original and full of small boutiques & little known designers.
Sitges is great for shopping with a wide selection of small boutiques and great tapas bars for when you get tired.

Penedes Wine Region

Albet i Noya is a pioneer in ecological wine in the area. Other famous Penedes wines include Jean Leon and Torres, only 20 minutes from the villa for wine tours and tasting.
In Sant Saruni, 25 minutes away, visit bodegas of the famous Cordoniu and Freixenet Cavas. There is also a great museum at the Cordoniu bodega.
There are many other smaller vineyards and boutique bodegas where you can sample many different wines and culinary delights of the region.


Monastery Santes Creus a prime example of a 12th Century Cistercian monastery. Built in accordance with Cistercian principles, it includes a church, a cloister, chapter house and dormitory. There were also a refectory, parlor, and scriptorium. Well worth a visit.
The active Benedictine Monastery at Montserrat stands 1236 metres (4055 ft) above the valley floor, among the most spectacular rock formations. Only 45 minutes from the villa.
The Monastery of Poblet was the royal pantheon of the kings of the Crown of Aragon since James I of Aragon. Some of the most important royal sepulchres have alabaster statues that lie over the tomb. The kings have lion sculptures at their feet, while the queens have dogs.

The Garraf Natural Park

The Villa Can Marcer de la Penya is named after the rock face 'la Penya' which is part of the fantastic view of the Garraf Natural Park, seen from the villa. In this video you can see Juan Chaparo "Chapi" founding member of GEAM, the Vilanova climbing team and Jaume Robles climbing the 'Penya'.

Surfing at Sitges with views of the Garraf

Off Season there is a thriving surfing scene in Sitges and Casteldefels. The waves don't get to California height but watch this video produced by Juan Lopez and you will see it's not bad for the Mediterranean.
